Solent Fuchsia Club, Annual Show 2017 Summary

Congratulations to all the members who exhibited their plants in Solent Fuchsia Club’s 43rd Annual Show. Once again it was held in the Catisfield Memorial Hall.

Taking all aspects into consideration, the fuchsias on display were of an exceptionally high quality, due to 2017 being a difficult year to cultivate any type of plant, caused mainly to the very hot and sunny conditions experienced during the months of June and July. It so happened to be the hottest couple of months for a very long time; ideal for holidays, but not for cultivating plants!

The attendance was slightly down on other years due mainly to the persistent rain during the afternoon of the Show. After all the glorious weather preceding the Show, I suppose it was to be expected.

A big thank you to Derek Luther for being the selected judge and making use of his expertise to pick the winners etc. from the exhibits on display.

Solent Fuchsia Club also wish to thank every member of the public who attended, firstly for supporting all those who entered the Show, and secondly, possibly encouraging Club members to participate again next year.

We also thank those who helped to ‘set–up’ the hall ready to accept the plants and all the volunteers who dealt with customers refreshment requirements for the duration of the Show.

Our sincere congratulations to Dennis Adams for winning the ‘Best Exhibit In Show’ and Mary Knight with ‘Runner Up To Best Exhibit In Show’.

Our Treasurer Mary Knight also gained the prestigious award of ‘Most Points In Show’.
